Trowels

Everyone needs to use something to dig "Relief/Cat Holes" along the trail.

What I use

This trowel  was a gift.  The price is too high in my opinion, but I am thankful for being given the best out there.  The new TentLab improved trowel is sturdy enough to get the job done while being extremely light.  The notches help cut roots and displace gravel.  At the weight, it is my favorite design.  At the price, it is out of my range.

Affordable Ultralight

Here is a much more affordable option for an aluminium trowel.  The build is still strong enough to get the job done, it is smaller, and more affordable.  It does not have any serrations.  You can add some yourself at that price.

My recommendation for the majority

The GSI Outdoors cathole trowel is affordable, tough, has serrated edges for cutting through roots, and has depth markers to make sure you reach adequate depth. The only negative thing I can say is, it weighs a bit. At around 3.1oz it is heavier than the aluminium options. I feel it is worth the trade off though. For the frugal, we sometimes have to sacrifice in weight.
